Regaining the social moral fiber

Each week of the Lenten season prepares us to celebrate well the most important event of our faith - the Holy week that commemorates the passion, death, and resurrection of the Lord.

For the first week, as Jesus entered into his retreat for 40 days in the desert, he was tempted but he emerged triumphant. It is also important that we also reflect on how to be strong in the midst of temptation and emerge triumphant as Jesus did.

Regarding our conduct as a nation, with all news of graft and corruption from the Presidency down to the last unit of society, the family, we probably have succumbed to the world of temptation and converted it to social sin. The weakening of the moral fiber of a nation and its individuals is what is causing havoc over the entire political and social system in the Philippines. This is the root of every graft and corruption in institutions and vices and infidelity in the family. Rebuilding that moral fiber would entail a long process of sacrifices that all of us like a bitter pill that we all have to swallow if we are really intent on regaining the dignity of our country.

Who is willing to more forward or take the first step? Let us all be counted and put our country back on its feet.
